BIO

The artist, Marisa Danae Green, currently lives and works in Portland, Oregon. Born in San Jose, California, she soon moved across the US to Linwood, Massachusetts. Growing up in a suburb equidistant to both Boston and Providence, she found herself splitting weekend road trips between the two cities. Almost immediately Marisa became immersed in the local music and art scenes. Preferring to spend all of her time in the city, Marisa applied to the Massachusetts College of Art where she later received a BFA in Illustration.

Her passion for travel didn’t end with American cities. As of today she’s enjoyed trips to Montreal, Zurich, Budapest, and countless Italian cities and country sides. In the summer of 2000 she lived in Viterbo, Italy while studying landscape painting and journal writing at L'Accademia de Belle Arte di Lorenzo.

It’s no surprise that travel influences so much of her work. The excitement of a new place, the sounds of a new language… every aspect is captured whether it be a paragraph in a journal, a photograph, a sketch or even a candy wrapper pressed in between pages of a sketchbook. Other influences include her relationships with friends and family, books, other artist’s journals and photography.

When Marisa is not working or traveling she can usually be found at the local café drinking coffee, at home cooking a vegetarian delight, or out and about exploring with her camera.
